Whole-home network and audio integration
A high-end residential client needed enterprise-grade Wi-Fi, UniFi Protect cameras, and Sonos zones—with clean rack wiring and handoff documentation for future changes.
The Challenge
The home had dead zones in the library and guest house, Sonos kept dropping, and a growing camera count was recording to consumer NAS with no remote access plan. Cabling was a mix of unlabeled runs; adding a new AP or zone required guessing. The owners wanted rock-solid performance without becoming IT managers.
Solution & Implementation
We mapped every drop, installed a UniFi Dream Router + aggregation switch in a clean 6U rack with proper power and cable management, deployed U6 APs (including a mesh backhaul to the guest house), and integrated UniFi Protect cameras with appropriate retention and remote access via the UniFi OS console. Sonos and Bluesound zones were tuned with QoS and separate IoT VLAN considerations. We delivered a laminated one-page house network map, labeled every cable and patch panel, and left a simple homeowner runbook plus digital files in their chosen vault.
